WG F - Working Group Flood - Flood Protection Working Group"WG F" is a working group helping the implementation of the Directive (Flood Directive) in the Member States. The Directive was issued by the European Union and deals with the risks of flooding and their reduction. On behalf of Hungary, the Flood Protection Department of the OVF regularly takes part in the work of the European Commission's flood protection working group (WG-F). Water experts from other member states' institutions who are responsible for the implementation of the EU Flood Directive participate in the meetings of the flood protection working group, as well as DG-Environment, the Directorate for Environmental Protection of the European Union.The meetings of the working group are held twice a year (in spring and autumn), at which the experts share their experiences and knowledge with each other and make recommendations to the EU.
ECOSTAT (Ecological Status) Working groupIt is the working group of the European Union which helps prepare watershed management plans (hereinafter VGT) under the Water Framework Directive, with regard to the good ecological status of surface waters. The tasks of the working group include biological, general chemical and hydromorphological topics. It helped the preparation of the first two watershed management plans mainly with biological and general chemical guidelines and meetings, while its tasks shifted to hydromorphological topics during the preparation of the third plan.
The current work program includes the following topics:
1) Intercalibration of watercourse and standing water typologies used in VGT. This task has largely been completed, but the fish intercalibration of the large rivers is still ongoing.
2) Determination of the ecological potential of highly modified water bodies and development of guidelines. (https://ec.europa.eu/environment/water/waterframework/facts_figures/guidance_docs_en.htm, N°37).
3) Support of analysis and knowledge sharing in relation to nutrients and physico-chemical elements and support of presentation of the differences between countries (analyses, limit values).
4) Connection to the Biodiversity Strategy 2030. The group gives professional assistance for the work of making 25,000 km of water course (section) passable.
5) Definition and application of ecological small water, flow of information, help with developing methodology, and connection to the Biodiversity Strategy 2030.
6) Hydromorphological qualifying elements and their role in condition assessment, help with transparency, support of analyses. Connection to standardization, in which directives for hydromorphological analyses of standing waters and watercourses are laid down.
7) Help define and analyze periodic water bodies.
8) Preparation of guidelines for sediment (2022.
9) Garbage in the waters - help the flow of information.
